Lyca Kovai Kings captain Shahrukh Khan gave credit to his spinners after they won against Ruby Trichy Warriors by five wickets at the SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore on Sunday. LKK was able to skittle out RTW at 135 after Khan won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Abhishek Tanwar scalped three wickets and conceded only 19 runs in his quota of four overs. Furthermore, Shahrukh Khan and R Divakar snared two wickets each for LKK.
Murali Vijay, who comeback into the team after missing the last game due to personal reasons, scored a fine knock of 61 runs for RTW but the rest of the batters failed to make any contribution.
On the other hand, Ganga Sridhar Raju, Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan all contributed with the bat to help their team get over the line in the run-chase.
Shahrukh Khan said in the post-match presentation, “Back-to-back wins help us a lot. An important win today, very pleased. The way our spinners bowled was phenomenal. The guys really stepped up.”
Meanwhile, medium pacer Abhishek Tanwar was awarded the Player of the Match for his fine spell of 3-19 in his quota of four overs. Tanwar revealed that the team’s captain Shahrukh Khan is giving him full confidence by backing him to the hilt.
Tanwar said after the game, “Very happy that he (Shahrukh Khan) has confidence in me. I hope I continue to do the good work in future. Vijay was striking really well, we gave him the single and attacked others. Beautiful ground. I am playing in front of my family, feels great.”
On the other hand, Ruby Trichy Warriors captain Rahil Shah admitted that they lost track in the last few overs of their batting innings as they could not add the finishing touches and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
He said after the game, “We lost our way in the last 5-6 overs. (Reason for the collapse) Few bad shots, loss of application. We didn’t bowl in the right areas in the first two overs. Hopefully we come back hard in the next game. Very big loss, we have to win every game from here, every match is a knock-out.”
