Nellai Royal Kings captain Baba Indrajith was delighted after his team defeated Salem Spartans by five wickets in the fourth match of the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022 on Saturday at the Indian Cement Company Ground, Tirunelveli.
Indrajith won the toss and decided to put the opposition into bat. The NRK bowlers did a fine job as they were able to restrict the opposition at 149. Athisayaraj Davidson and NS Harish were pick of the bowlers as they returned with two wickets each in their quota of four overs.
On the other hand, G Ajitesh played a match-winning knock of 48 runs off just 25 balls with the help of five sixes. He was able to hit the ground running and batted at the top of his game.
Baba Indrajith said in the post-match presentation, “To restrict them to 150 is amazing. Special mention to Arya Menon playing his first game. He’s an exciting talent (Ajitesh). Very good fielder, very good attitude. It’s good we are on the winning side but there are a lot of areas to work on. Important to win the powerplays. It was his call (on the Aparajith run-out).”
Meanwhile, Ajitesh was also delighted with his individual performance as he helped the team in getting over the line. It was a convincing win in the end for NRK as they won with 14 balls to spare.
Ajitesh was awarded the Player of the Match and said the team management and the captain have fully backed him.
He said after the game, “Team backed me really well. Just want to live up to my potential. He (Indrajith) supported me and guided me how to go through the innings. Helped me a lot. Just want to follow my role and do my role for the team.”
This was Nellai Royal Kings’ second win in their second match of the season and thus they have got off to a fine start. Baba Indrajith and Co. will look to continue the good show in the upcoming matches and deliver the goods for the team.
Nellai Royal Kings will next face Dindigul Dragons on Thursday at NPR College Ground, Dindigul.
