New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is looking forward to playing in the IPL if all the things fall in the right place. Williamson who will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL is looking forward to the event but believes there is still a lot to know about the event. Currently, the IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel has confirmed that the event will take place in the UAE.
It is also reported that the glamorous league can take place September 26 to November 8. Meanwhile, Williamson has had a great time playing in the IPL.
The New Zealand captain had taken Sunrisers Hyderabad to the final of the IPL 2018 edition but they could not cross the last hurdle against Chennai Super Kings in the final. However, Williamson has been replaced as captain by David Warner for IPL 2020.
On the other hand, the T20 World Cup has been postponed, which has given a new ray of hope to the IPL. The BCCI has already asked for the government permission to stage the IPL in the UAE and they are expected to get a green chit, according to IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel. Hence, it looks promising that the IPL will happen in 2020.
“Considering what it actually looks like, where it is and all the details that come with it, to play in the IPL is always an amazing thing so, absolutely, it will be great to play in it and be a part of it. But there’s a lot of details to come through before any final decisions will be made. It will be nice to know more,” Kane Williamson said.
Meanwhile, New Zealand players got back to training last week despite the cancellation of their winter matches. New Zealand is now Covid-19 free and in fact, it was recently reported that the IPL can be hosted there but it turned out to be rumours.
Kane Williamson has played 41 IPL matches in which he has scored 1302 runs at an impressive average of 38.29 and a strike rate of 135.06. The right-hander has been a consistent performer and he would look to continue the good show for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming season of the IPL.
Earlier, Williamson’s New Zealand teammate Trent Boult stated that he is not sure about his IPL participation and he will talk to the right people before taking his decision.
