Former Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron has suggested a change in India’s playing XI for the fifth T20I against the West Indies. Aaron reckons India should include Kuldeep Yadav in the final XI. The SRH bowling coach highlighted Yadav provides an attacking option like Yuzvendra Chahal, who enjoyed great success while playing for RCB at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
In the first two games of the series, Kuldeep returned with three wickets at an average of 28.67, but the wrist spinner conceded his runs at an economy rate of 10.75. Kuldeep returned with expensive figures of 1-53 in his quota of four overs in the second game of the series and could not find a place in the third and fourth match.
“Kuldeep Yadav has to play, especially at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Yuzvendra Chahal was doing commentary with us. He is the finest exponent of how to get wickets in a stadium like that. Again, a wrist-spinner. Chinnaswamy Stadium is one of those grounds where if you just go to save your skin and try to be defensive, you are going to go for plenty,” Varun Aaron said on Star Sports show Follow the Blues.
Aaron reckons India needs to take the attacking option by playing five frontline bowlers.
“The only way you can be defensive there is to absolutely attack and try to get wickets. So I would say play Kuldeep Yadav. Take a punt with five bowlers. You can bat till seven. There is no problem. You have a couple of all-rounders there. So bat till seven, play five bowlers, and win the trophy,” Aaron observed.
The former pacer said Indian bowlers could not execute their plans after they conceded 247 runs in Hyderabad.
“I would say plans from the bowlers. I think the plans were off. You have got to assess the wicket. You have got to know when to bowl your variations, and you have to keep hitting the wickets. I think in the last two games, India were really good at hitting the wickets,” he replied.
The fifth and final match of the series between India and the West Indies will be played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on Saturday.
