India’s superstar batter Virat Kohli has indicated that the recent tour of Australia might be his last Downunder. Kohli kicked off the Border-Gavaskar 2024-25 campaign on a high, scoring a fine hundred in the second innings at Perth as India registered a huge win under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy.
However, Kohli veered off the track after the opening Test as he could only manage 190 runs in five Test matches at an average of 23.75. In nine innings, Kohli was dismissed caught behind on eight occasions as his habit of playing outside the off-stump line led to his downfall.
Meanwhile, India will not travel to Australia in the 2025-2027 cycle and will host Australia in January and February 2027.
Virat Kohli said as quoted by PTI, “I might not have another Australia tour in me*, so I am at peace with whatever happened in the past.”
India’s schedule for WTC 2025-27 cycle:
India vs England (away) – 5 Tests – June-August 2025
India vs West Indies (home) – 2 Tests – October 2025
India vs South Africa (home) – 2 Tests – December 2025
India vs Sri Lanka (away) – 2 Tests – August 2026
India vs New Zealand (away) – 2 Tests – October-December 2026
India vs Australia (home) – 5 Tests – January-February 2027.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli scored 1542 runs in 18 Test matches while playing in Australian conditions at an average of 46.73.
Kohli will be next seen in action in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Kohli is the leading run-getter in the IPL history with 8004 runs in 252 matches at an average of 38.66 and a strike rate of almost 132.
RCB will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on March 22.
