Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has opined England’s bowling is nothing special as such ahead of the T20 World Cup semifinal clash. England has bowlers like Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson, and Will Jacks.
Adil Rashid has scalped 11 wickets in seven matches at an average of 19 in the ongoing T20 World Cup whereas Will Jacks has scalped seven wickets in six innings. Furthermore, Dawson has bagged 10 wickets in seven matches at an average of 19.
Moreover, Jofra Archer has snared 10 wickets in seven matches in the ongoing T20I showpiece at an average of 22.50.
Sehwag said if India can chase down 196 against the West Indies, they can also chase the same score against England.
“If we can chase 195 against the West Indies, we can do that against England as well. Their bowling is nothing special as such,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
“We are playing in India, we are playing at the Wankhede, our favorite ground, so we have the edge. But having the edge does not mean that we will win. No excuse will work, your batting, bowling, and fielding has to be on point. It will not work if they if only we had done that and all those things. We just need a little luck,” he added.
On the other hand, former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan admitted it is good that India has not played their perfect game yet in the tournament.
“It is a good thing that we have not played our best game yet. From a World Cup perspective, it is really good. You can encash the 100 percent game when you truly need it. We need luck at the toss. You can expect a high-scoring game, the pitch supports that,” Zaheer Khan said on Cricbuzz.
India will take on England in the second semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Thursday.
