Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has slammed Pakistan for their dismal show in the ongoing three-match Test series against England. The visitors suffered an innings and 103-run loss in the opening Test match against the hosts at Leeds, Headingley.

The tourists were once again beaten badly in the second Test, suffering a 194-run loss at Lord’s. After the loss, head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also removed from their roles. Mike Hesson, Pakistan’s white-ball coach, was given charge of the Test side ahead of the third and final match at Edgbaston.

In the third Test, Babar Azam’s team was bundled out for 133 and England are currently leading by 166 runs at lunch on day two. Thus, Pakistan are staring at another big loss on the tour of England.

“I knew before the Test series started in England we would lose three-nil because of the glaring problems in our batting and bowling,” he told a sports website.

“I get asked all the time, ‘Can you do something to help Pakistan cricket?’ But the issues are a lot deeper. These are the top players, there’s nothing else there. The systems aren’t there below that.”

Akram admitted that Pakistan is struggling in all three departments of the game.

“Our batting is struggling, our bowling is below average, and our fielding is worse. It’s not rocket science,” he said.

Pakistan has returned with scores of 171, 135, 110, and 194 in the first two Test matches. Thus, the visitors have failed to breach the 200-run mark. Furthermore, they could breach the 150-run mark in the first innings of the third Test.

Pakistan players have looked clueless on the England tour and they haven’t been able to deliver collectively.
