Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Yash Dayal showered praise on Virat Kohli for backing him during Indian Premier League 2024. Dayal was hit for five sixes by Rinku Singh in IPL 2023 while playing for Gujarat Titans and had to face a lot of backlash on social media. The left-arm seamer could only pick two wickets in five matches at an average of 82.50 and an economy rate of 11.49 in that edition.
However, Dayal bounced back strongly in the last season of the cash-rich tournament, picking 15 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 30.60 and an economy rate of 9.14.
“The biggest thing he said to me was that they would back me for the entire season and I will not feel as an outsider in the team. They backed me wholeheartedly in the entire season that was a booster for me. He interacts with youngsters in the same way like others and What people talk on TV about him I didn’t feel that with him,” said Dayal in an interview with Sportstak.
Meanwhile, Dayal also shed light on the RCB’s dressing room atmosphere. The fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh added the dressing room is very chill as the senior players are supportive.
“The dressing room of RCB is very chill and seniors are very nice and supportive and the players gel in well within the dressing room. It’s a management call (on mega auction) and I would like to only represent RCB as of now,” said Dayal in the same interaction.
RCB was able to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024 but once again could not go all the way in the tournament.
