Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has heaped praise on captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid for giving ample opportunities to young players. The team management has backed the young talent and the players have been able to grab their opportunities.
In fact, the selectors have rested a lot of main players in the recent series, which has given chance to the young players, to show their mettle.
The players are grabbing their opportunities with both hands and there is no doubt that Team India has a potent bench strength.
But at the same time, players are not afraid to lose their place in the team as there is always good communication with them. Thus, the young players have grown in confidence after receiving backing from the team management.
“A lot of credit goes to him (Rohit Sharma) and Rahul Dravid, the way they’ve got the team together. Making sure a lot of positive mindset come in and at the same point of time players are feeling secure, they are not looking over their shoulder, making sure they are getting ample chances. They are being told if they are not playing, so that is something which is commendable,” Hardik shared his views on Rohit’s captaincy after the third T20I.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is also serving as the vice-captain of the team in the T20I series against West Indies. Pandya had recently lead in the two-match T20I series against Ireland after leading Gujarat Titans to IPL glory. The all-rounder said he is enjoying the extra responsibility.
“I’ve always enjoyed the responsibility, and it has added more and more to my game. As many games I’ve played whenever I’ve taken the responsibility role, and it has added a little more flair to my game because it makes me think more, and when I think more, it adds more value to my cricket,” Hardik added.
On the other hand, Hardik Pandya returned with impressive figures of 1-19 in his quota of four overs in the third T20I against the West Indies and played a key role in restricting the opposition at 164 runs.
Pandya will look to continue the good form in the upcoming matches as he is delivering the goods with both bat and ball. The fourth T20I between India and West Indies will be played on Saturday at Florida.
