India’s vice-captain for the ODI series, Ravindra Jadeja is likely to miss the ODI series against West Indies. Jadeja is reportedly suffering from a niggle in his left knee and he is doubtful for the three-match series. Cricbuzz has reported that the all-rounder is recommended to take rest from the ODI series. The 33-year-old had recently taken part in the ODI series against England.
On the other hand, KL Rahul is doubtful for the T20I series after he was tested positive for Covid-19, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly revealed on Thursday.
Rahul is recovering after undergoing surgery for sports hernia in Germany. The right-hander had missed the England tour and the T20I series against South Africa due to the same and he now faces a new challenge to be fit for the T20I series against West Indies.
Rahul was expected to lead in the series against the Proteas but he was ruled out due to a groin injury and Rishabh Pant had led in his absence.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav has been given a green signal by the National Cricket Academy to take part in the T20I series after recovering from the hand injury.
On the other hand, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the Asia Cup will be held in the UAE after the Apex Council meeting on Thursday. Sri Lanka was expected to host the multi-team tournament earlier but the competition was moved out due to the financial crisis in the Island country.
The first ODI between India and West Indies will be played in Trinidad on Friday.
