Tamil Nadu batter Abhinav Mukund reckons Suryakumar Yadav is hard to stop when he gets going. The West Indies realised the same in the third T20I at the Providence Stadium, Guyana on Tuesday after India registered a seven-wicket win to make it 2-1 in the series.
Yadav came out to bat after debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed after scoring only one run and smashed the first two balls of his innings for a four and six against Obed McCoy. The right-hander from Mumbai showed no mercy for the West Indies bowlers as he took them to the cleaners from the get-go.
SKY scored a whirlwind knock of 83 runs off just 44 balls with the help of 10 fours and four maximums, getting to his fifty off just 23 balls. The 32-year-old from Mumbai once again showed the range of his shots as he scored all around the ground. Yadav also added a fine alliance of 87 runs with young Tilak Varma, who scored an unbeaten knock of 49 runs in the run-chase of 160.
It was tough for the West Indies bowlers to put the brakes on SKY when he got going and gave no chance to the hosts’ bowling unit.
“It does not matter to him what the occasion is. He is an exceptional player and when he gets going, there is no stopping him. He has the range and every single shot in the book,” Mukund was quoted as saying to Jio Cinema.
“I am just trying to figure out in my head for my own curiosity, where would I bowl to him if I were the opposing captain. If he gets into such sort of mood, it is very hard to bowl to him. That’s the truth and the West Indies found it out the hard way today,” he added.
SKY was just unstoppable as he batted in the top-most gear. The Mumbai batter was awarded the Player of the match for the 12th time in T20I cricket for his match-winning knock.
The fourth T20I between these two teams will be played on Saturday at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida.
