Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has tipped India as the best all-round bowling attack in the world. India has a potent bowling battery in Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav. In fact, a veteran like Ravichandran Ashwin is on the bench for the team.
In the ongoing ODI showpiece, Shami has scalped 16 wickets in four matches at an impressive average of seven and has an economy rate of 4.31. He is India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament despite playing only four matches. Furthermore, Jasprit Bumrah has bagged 15 wickets at an impressive average of 15.53 in eight matches of the tournament.
Moreover, Mohammed Siraj has picked 10 wickets in eight games. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja have snared 12 and 14 wickets respectively in the ongoing ODI showpiece.
“This is the best all-round bowling attack. Not just in these conditions but conditions across the world,” Shastri said while doing commentary during the India vs. South Africa Cricket World Cup.
On the other hand, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir reckons if we add Zaheer Khan to this line-up, then it will become the best-ever Indian bowling attack.
“This is India’s best-combined bowling attack. If you add Zaheer Khan, this would be India’s best bowling attack,” Gautam Gambhir also said.
Indian bowlers have been relentless and they have not given an inch to the opposition. They skittled out England at 129, thrashed Sri Lanka at only 55, and then bundled out the Proteas on 83 runs. The fast bowlers have got the ball to swing and seam as they have landed their balls in the right areas whereas Jadeja and Kuldeep have done a magnificent job in the middle overs.
India will next take on the Netherlands at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday.
