World Cup 2023: We’re not preparing any special for any special team – Jasprit Bumrah on Pakistan clash

India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has revealed they are not preparing in any special manner for any special team ahead of the high-octane clash against Pakistan. India has got off to an ideal start in the ongoing World Cup 2023, winning their opening match against Australia by six wickets and then hammering Afghanistan by eight wickets at Delhi on Wednesday.

Bumrah, continued his rich vein of form, as he returned with his best World Cup figures of 4-39 in his quota of 10 overs. The ace pacer once again provided an early breakthrough as he dismissed Ibrahim Zadran with a ball that moved slightly away from the right-hander.

India’s pack leader got three wickets at the fag end of the innings as he accounted for Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran and Rashid Khan.

Jasprit Bumrah said in the post-match press conference, “See, every team will have batsmen, every team will have bowlers. We also have batsmen; we also have bowlers. We’re not preparing any special for any special team. Yes, we’re looking at ourselves more than the others because we’ve realized that if we focus on our team, we focus on our strengths, everything else takes care of itself. So, we are focusing on our team, our preparation.”

“If everything that is there in our control, we control that, that gives us the best chance. So that is what our team is focusing on,” he added.

India won by eight wickets and with 90 balls to spare, which boosted their Net Run Rate. However, Bumrah denied that they looking at NRR.

“No, no, not at all. We were not looking at net run rate from the beginning and we did not know that Rohit will give us such a head start. So, obviously I don’t think there was any conversation this early in the tournament. But yeah, really happy with the way the game went and we finished it off early as well,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma scored a magnificent knock of 131 runs off just 84 balls as he batted at his lethal best. The right-hander scored 16 fours and five sixes in his fine knock.

India will play their next match against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday.
