New Zealand’s rising star Rachin Ravindra feels it will be a dream come true to play in front of a full crowd against India in the World Cup semifinal. Ravindra has been the find of the tournament for the Kiwis and he has amassed 565 runs in nine matches at an impressive average of 70.62 and a strike rate of 108.45.
When New Zealand last played against India in the ongoing World Cup, Ravindra scored a crucial knock of 75 runs and added an imperative partnership with Daryl Mitchell.
The left-hander has been providing solid starts to the team along with Devon Conway, with whom he shares a great bonhomie.
Rachin Ravindra said as quoted by Perth Now, “You dream of playing against a full crowd against India, who have gone unbeaten at Wankhede, a ground with so much history. We’ll stay level, we’ll try our best. We know we can’t win every game of cricket…but we’ll see how it plays out.”
The youngster, who has impressed with his timing, said he doesn’t focus on his personal milestones and the team’s success is always his priority.
“I’m very honoured. If you look at the names nominated on that list it’s pretty special to be among the greats of the game. I don’t necessarily play for personal accolades but the recognition is always nice from the governing body.
“Doing it for the team, that’s the beauty of it. You might end up with that award a few times in your career but I think if you’re contributing to winning cricket, that’s what matters to me.”
Apart from impressing with the bat at the top of the order, Ravindra has also taken five wickets in nine matches of the ongoing World Cup for the Blackcaps at an average of 66.60.
Ravindra will look to continue the good show in the big semifinal against India on Wednesday.
