Australian all-rounder Cameron Green showered praise on India’s main man – Virat Kohli, stating the talisman always tries to be the player to stand up in big moments. Kohli has performed consistently for the Indian team in all three formats of the game and he will be looking to be at his best in the WTC final against Australia.
Kohli scored 639 runs in 14 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023 at an average of 53.25, including two hundreds and he is going to hold the key for India in the big clash against Australia.
The right-hander had returned with scores of 44 and 13 in the WTC Final 2021 against New Zealand and he will be looking to come up with a big score against the Aussies.
Kohli has a good record against Australia as he has scored 1979 runs at an average of 48.26 in 24 Test matches. The 34-year-old from Delhi also scored a magnificent knock of 186 runs in the fourth Test match against Australia at Ahmedabad, earlier in the year.
“Virat Kohli. I think he always tries to be the man to stand up in big moments,” Green said.
“A World Test Championship is obviously a massive moment, so I look forward to that.”
Green, who has impressed in his young Test career, added the big players are the ones who are able to handle the pressure of big situations.
“There is nothing like Test cricket when you’re kind of out in the middle,” Green said.
“Obviously, your nerves are running really high. I think the best players are the best ones that are able to handle that.”
Meanwhile, Green had also scored a fine knock of 114 runs in the fourth Test match against India in the Border-Gavaskar series. The lanky batter also scored 452 runs in 16 matches for Mumbai Indians and played a key role in taking the franchise to the playoffs.
The WTC Final will be played at the Oval from June 7.
