Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has praised the veteran duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for inspiring an entire generation. Kohli and Rohit have performed consistently for India in the last 15 years and they have played a key role in the success of the team, across all formats.
Meanwhile, the veteran duo has already retired from Test and T20Is, and thus their match time is in question. Furthermore, the pair hardly plays in the domestic circuit. The experienced pair played professional cricket in the three-match series against Australia after a long hiatus.
While Rohit top-scored in the series with 202 runs, Virat scored 74 runs in the third ODI after bagging two ducks in the first two games. Rohit scored an unbeaten knock of 121 runs off 125 balls in the third ODI and played a key role in India’s comprehensive nine-wicket win.
“What Rohit Bhaiya and Virat Bhai have done in their careers is incredible. They’ve inspired an entire generation, including me. I see it as an opportunity to learn from them and do my best,” Jaiswal said on JioHotstar.
“I know I can’t fill their shoes, but I’ll back my strengths and play with confidence,” Jaiswal added.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal has performed consistently since his debut in Test cricket. The left-hander has scored 2428 runs in 26 Test matches at an impressive average of 51.66. The southpaw scored 411 runs in five Test matches against England and he scored a match-winning hundred in the final Test match at the Kennington Oval, London.
Jaiswal has definitely shown the skills to savor success in all three formats of the game.
