“You don’t know how to play, you’re not capable enough to play” – Ahmad Shahzad blasts Pakistan for 2024 home Test series loss vs Bangladesh

Out of favor Pakistan batter Ahmad Shahzad has lashed out at the Shan Masood-led team after they suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss against Bangladesh in the Test series despite playing in the home conditions. After losing the opening Test at Rawalpindi by 10 wickets, the home team suffered a six-wicket loss in the second Test at the same venue.

Pakistan posted a competitive score of 274 runs in the first innings of the second Test. The hosts then had Bangladesh in all sorts of trouble at 26-6 but could not capitalize on the commanding position.

Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored fine knocks of 138 and 78 runs respectively to help the Tigers post 262 runs. Pakistan was then skittled out for 172 runs in the second essay and Bangladesh was able to chase down 185 after collective contributions from the top-order.

Taking to X, Ahmad Shahzad said in a video, “Bangladesh has whitewashed Pakistan in their own home conditions. You don’t know how to play, you’re not capable enough to play [directed towards the Pakistani team]. All their practice sessions have also been conducted after they arrived in Pakistan. The condition their country was in at that moment of time was also not that good. They have come to Pakistan and have outplayed you without breaking a sweat.”

Meanwhile, the Pakistan opener added Bangladesh bowlers were right on the money and bowled in the right areas to reap their rewards whereas Pakistan were left blaming the pitch for their dismal show.

“The manner in which they played their cricket, the way they dominated, the approach with which they batted, the style in which they bowled, Rana bowled really well. Their batters have displayed the unwavering spirit one requires to succeed in Test cricket. Their bowlers have demonstrated the channels in which one should bowl, and all you were left is blaming the pitch,” said Shahzad.

“However, the Bangladeshi batters made the track look like a road whenever they got the opportunity to bat. Whenever your (Pakistani) batters would get an opportunity to bat, they would prefer coming down the order against Nahid Rana).”

With this loss, Pakistan’s winless streak at home extended to 10 Test matches.
