England have finished top of Group B which means they will face the runners-up from Group A. Netherlands topped the group ahead of Senegal which means England will face the Lions of Teranga for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition on Sunday.
If England beat Senegal, they will face either the winner of Group D, which is currently topped by France, or the runner-up of Group C, which will be Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico or Poland.
If England were to make it through to the semi-finals as group winners, its likely that they will face the potential group winners of Groups F and H – Croatia, Morocco, Belgium or Portugal.
If they were to make it through to the semis as runners-up in Group B, that would potentially set up a tie against Spain/Germany or Brazil.
It’s difficult to predict exactly who England could face in a potential final but, as group winners, they could well meet Spain, Germany or Brazil at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on December 18.
If they were to be group runners-up and still make it all the way to the last two, France, Belgium or Portugal would likely stand in the way of World Cup glory.
