Former India U17 national football team Captain Midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam has revealed that the competition for places on the Indian football national team is stiff.
The Jamshedpur FC midfielder made it to the national team, making his senior team debut for the Blue Tigers with his first game coming in the Kings cup in June 2019 after impressing with Indian Arrows in the previous year in the I-League.
He has since then made only five appearances after he got injured, later on, an elbow injury which resulted in him missing the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September and October 2019 even though he made the squad list.
The ex-U17 national team skipper who played at the FIFA U17 World Cup hosted in India 2017 had started putting in efforts to make a big return into the new 2020 season with an improved performance than in the past.
Unfortunately, the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic across the world and India inclusive has made him wait longer as he returns to Chandigarh where he undergoes personal fitness to keep up with fitness as a national lockdown means that training pitches and Gyms are inaccessible.
The player though stated that this hasn’t stopped his desire and hunger for success and growth.
“The goal remains the same. I am determined to work extra hard to cover for the training that I have missed. I have to be in top shape. I know have to keep pushing myself constantly to grow as a player,” he was quoted on Khelnow.com.
The 19-year-old who started his professional career with Indian Arrows in 2017 joined Jamshedpur a year later after making Sixteen appearances for the Arrows.
He returned immediately to Indian Arrows on Loan making 20 appearances last season while Jamshedpur finished 8th on the India Super League log with 18 points from 18 games.
