Barcelona and Spain’s prodigy talent, Lamine Yamal wants to win multiple Ballon d’Or awards in his career. Yamal, 18, has impressed one and all with his solid game, and he would look to keep up the good show.
The Spaniard is a red-hot favorite to win his maiden Ballon d’Or after an impressive run in last season. Yamal scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists in the previous season as Hansi Flick’s team won LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Supercopa.
“I told my friends I don’t dream of winning one Ballon d’Or, I dream of winning many,” he told the podcast Resonancia de Corazón this week when asked if he coveted individual glory to go with team success.
Yamal said he would be really happy if he wins the prestigious award. The youngster will compete with Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé.
“I think I’m a player who has the ability to win it, and if I don’t, it’s because I haven’t done things right or because I haven’t wanted to,” Yamal said.
“So, I dream of winning the Ballon d’Or many times and when the day comes [that I win it], I’ll be very happy.”
Yamal said he wants to keep winning at the top level and continue his rich form.
“I just want to keep winning,” he said. “I want to win with my club and with the national team.”
Earlier, French defender Jules Kounde also backed Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or award.
He said on Le10Sport, “Lamine Yamal for the Ballon d’Or? You’re putting me in a tricky situation, but I think he deserves it. I have a very good relationship with him. He’s a team player, he works a lot for the team. He needs energy to attack, and I understand him perfectly.”
