Bengaluru FC head coach Marco Pezzaiouli lauds his team for holding their own in tough times ahead of their clash against Chennaiyin FC

It has been a tough season for Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League but they have shown some sign of fightback in recent times. The Blues are unbeaten in the last six matches and will be hopeful of getting a result against Chennaiyin FC. Sunil Chhetri and his men have simply not been consistent enough and hence they find themselves out of the top four.

Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC will be looking to win and reach the summit as they are coming to match on the back of a 2-1 win over NorthEast United. However there has been some news in their camp after the win, goalkeeper Vishal Kaith tested positive and therefore the entire team and staff had to isolate. But later tests were conducted and none of the others returned positive for the virus. So the match is definitely on for both the teams.

Starting with Marco Pezzaiouli, the German tactician highlighted how great his team has been in these bizarre situations and feels that the players are hungry to get the points.

“This season has been a challenge. But I think our mentality as a team has been really great, I think we saw that against Goa, but not only that game, but throughout the season. We pressed hard, created chances, and we have a strong character and personality. As a coach, this has been great for me because this team is hungry and the players who are not in the squad are hungry to get the points, the players who are injured, they’re hungry for points, Pezzaiouli began at the pre match press conference.

Speaking about the situation and how much difficulty they face in preparation Pezzaiouli added how things are never easy but the players know where they want to reach. So they switch off everything and focus on the game. “It’s not easy but you know, we are professional football players and coaching staff, we need to put out the lights, what is right and left, and focus. We are preparing for the game, how we want to play, how to have more options for the game. The players who are in the squad know exactly what we want to do. We stick to our principles,” the Bengaluru FC coach concluded.

With Sunil Chhetri also scoring in the last game and breaking the duck, the Blues are hopeful that they can make one final push for the playoffs this season. Therefore they would like to start that push with a win against the Marina Machans.
