Indian Super League outfit Bengaluru FC continue to add more firepower to their attack as they announced the signing of former SC East Bengal forward Harmanpreet Singh. The versatile forward who can play in multiple positions in the attack have joined the Blues in a two-year deal.
The youngster will be available for the Blues’ AFC Cup clash against Eagles FC. Harmanpreet joined the Indian Arrows in 2018 and appeared in 14 I-League matches. His impressive performances earned him an ISL callup when SC East Bengal signed him for their debut season in the cash rich league. He featured seven times for the Red and Golds but unfortunately failed to find the back of the net. However now he will have another shot in proving his worth at the ISL with the Blues in the upcoming season.
“I am delighted to join Bengaluru FC. This is a club that has been successful throughout its existence, and it puts its trust in players irrespective of how young they are. I am looking forward to the new season, and learning from some of the most experienced players in the country – especially the likes of Sunil bhai and Gurpreet bhai. I want to give my best for this club and win trophies with it,” said the forward from Punjab.
Harmanpreet may not have scored tonnes of goals but he is a versatile forward who is quite able on the right flank as well. He is very hardworking and it is his dogged nature that makes him different from the rest of the young strikers in the country. The 19-year-old comes from a family of footballers as his father Satnam Singh played for Punjab Police and his uncle featured for JCT winning the Durand Cup.
“I would like to welcome Harmanpreet Singh to Bengaluru FC. He is a young player who gives us an option in attack and on the wings, and I am certain he will benefit from a dressing room that has experience. Wishing him the best on this new journey with the club,” said Blues’ Head Coach Marco Pezzaiuoli.
The Blues have been very busy in the transfer market but their biggest signing till now has been bringing in Congolese international Prince Ibarra.
