Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20 playoffs finalists Chennaiyin FC have added Bosnian defender Enes Sipovic to its squad ahead of the new season.
Sipovic joined from Qatari club Umm Salal on a free transfer becoming the club’s first foreign player to be signed in this transfer window.
The defender has played in three continents from Europe to Asia and a stint in Africa as well. Having started out with Romanian club Oțelul Galați in 2009, he played for Westerlo in Belgium before moving to Morocco where he featured for Tanger and Berkane.
He also played for Bosnian side Zeljeznicar, Saudi Arabian club Ohod and Umm Salal which he joined in the January transfer window helping them stay in the top flight.
Sipovic also has international football experience having featured for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U21s making 15 appearances between 2010 and 2012.
After losing to Atletico Kolkota in the finals of the India Super League playoffs earlier this year, Chennaiyin lost coach Owen Coyle and striker Nerijus Valskis to Jamshedpur.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad FC has added another foreigner to its fold to make him their sixth foreign player signed from this transfer window.
Fran Sandaza is the latest acquisition by Hyderabad from Spanish side Alcorcon on a one-year deal that was announced by the India Super League side on Monday.
The player stated his excitement in joining the ISL, which he claims is improving every year.
“The Indian Super League is improving every year. A lot of good players have played in the league so far. I have played with and against a few of them that have told me good things about the ISL, so I am keen to be part of it,” Sandaza was quoted on Hyderabad FC’s official website.
