FC Goa midfielder Brison Fernandes revealed his dream is to win the Indian Super League title with the club. Fernandes won the ISL Emerging Player of the Season in 2024-25 as he impressed one and all.
The 24-year-old winger scored seven goals and provided two assists in 24 matches for the Gaurs in the season. Ergo, the youngster played an instrumental role in team’s success, helping Manolo Marquez’s team finish at second place in the standings in the league phase.
Fernandes made his senior debut with FC Goa in 2021, and since then, he has taken giant strides at the top level.
“This club is like a family to me. It gave me the platform to shape me not just as a player but as a person,” Fernandes said in an interview with The Navhind Times.
Meanwhile, FC Goa recently won the Kalinga Super Cup after beating Jamshedpur FC in the final, but the Gaurs are yet to win the ISL Cup.
“Now there is just one trophy the club has never won, the ISL Cup. It’s my dream to lift that trophy for my people and this club,” he expressed.
The youngster recalled how one of his teachers demotivated him when he wanted to make a career in football.
He revealed: “One of my teachers always used to tell me football won’t take you anywhere… maybe because I wasn’t among the brightest students. And at some point these thoughts used to come into my head and it did affect me.”
Fernandes gave his gratitude to his friends and parents, who always stood by his side, through the ups and downs.
“My friends were the answer.. They were with me when I had nothing. So I’ll always be there for them,” he says. “My parents always supported me in whatever way they could — my dad came to my matches, my mama always had my meals ready before and after.”
After impressing in the ISL, Fernandes made his debut for the Indian team in March against Bangladesh.
“I felt proud representing my people and my nation. Whenever I get such opportunities, I’ll give my 100 percent for that beautiful logo on my chest,” he said.
