Chanmari FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Kashmir in an Indian Football League 2025-26 clash at the TRC Stadium in Srinagar on Monday, climbing to seventh place in the standings with eight points.
Goals from Marlon Rangel and Lalruatsanga in either half proved decisive for the visitors, while Marius Bedzigui’s stunning free-kick gave the home side hope that ultimately faded as they remained rooted to the bottom with just two points from seven matches.
Despite the result, Real Kashmir—nicknamed the Snow Leopards—made a strong start and controlled much of the first half. Taking advantage of challenging windy conditions, they pressed forward with intent. Their overseas players combined effectively with captain Mohammad Inam, creating multiple threatening moments.
They came closest when Inam struck the near post after a neat setup by Junior Traore. Soon after, Bedzigui himself rattled the crossbar with a powerful effort from the edge of the box following a well-worked corner routine.
However, against the run of play, Chanmari FC found the breakthrough just before half-time. P. Christopher Kamei delivered a looping ball into the box that caught goalkeeper Sayad Bin off guard. Misjudging its flight completely, the keeper left his goal exposed, allowing Marlon Rangel to calmly slot home and give the visitors the lead at the break.
Chanmari doubled their advantage shortly after the hour mark, once again capitalising on defensive lapses. Kamei turned provider yet again with a precise corner delivery, and Lalruatsanga met it perfectly, side-footing the ball into the net after getting ahead of his marker.
Real Kashmir responded almost immediately. Shedrack Charles won a free-kick in a dangerous position after being fouled at the edge of the box. Bedzigui stepped up and curled a superb strike over the wall and into the net, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The home side pushed hard for an equaliser, with Bedzigui continuing to be a standout performer. He delivered a dangerous low cross that evaded the defence and fell to Charles just six yards from goal. But in a moment that summed up Real Kashmir’s struggles, the striker blasted his effort over the bar.
Despite late pressure, Chanmari remained composed and organised at the back, limiting clear-cut chances. Their disciplined performance ensured they held on to their narrow lead and walked away with three crucial points on the road.
