India international and midfield maestro Anirudh Thapa is very much eager to welcome the fans back on the stands in the upcoming Indian Super League. The league will welcome the fans after a gap of two years and Thapa is very excited to perform in front of sell out crowds. It is true that the fans have been missed and Thapa resonates that feeling and therefore he is more excited to meet and entertain them in person.
The Chennaiyin FC midfielder and captain felt that the fans were a major miss in the last two seasons. The Marina Machans have often created a difference with their relentless energy from the stands which has resonated with the players on the pitch. “I think the fans are excited and so are we. They will be back after two years. We missed them and it will be great to meet them and entertain them. Having fans will create an amazing atmosphere in this season’s ISL for sure,” said Thapa.
Anirudh Thapa shares how the people of Chennai are very passionate about the game and having them on the stands always motivated the team which they missed in the last two seasons. Their performances in the last couple of seasons have not been great either, so having the fans back will surely help their cause.
“Last two years have been tough for us. I can recall the packed stands in Chennai with the people of the city behind us in each and every match. There have been special nights at the Marina Arena and I am looking forward to experiencing them back once again,” the Chennaiyin FC captain shared.
The South Indian club will start their ISL journey on October 10 in an away game against ATK Mohun Bagan in Kolkata. Thapa shared how he is not only eager to perform in front of the Chennai crowd. He feels the same for other cities as well as they always come out in numbers to support their teams.
“You know the matches in Bengaluru, Kochi, and Kolkata will be amazing as well because you have a great turnout in these centres. I am most excited to play the four teams away from home as well,” Thapa said.
Anirudh Thapa has recently signed a two year contract extension with the two time ISL champions, Chennaiyin FC. That means the fans will get to see their main man waltz in midfield at least till the end of the 2024 season.
