East Bengal FC has officially secured the services of striker Edmund Lalrindika and winger Bipin Singh Thounaojam on multi-year contracts, strengthening their attacking lineup ahead of the 2025–26 Indian Super League (ISL) season.
The high-profile acquisitions mark a significant statement of intent from the Red-and-Gold Brigade as they prepare to mount a serious challenge in the upcoming campaign.
Edmund Lalrindika, 26, arrives from Inter Kashi following a standout season in the I-League. The forward registered four goals and six assists in 24 appearances, playing a pivotal role in helping his side reach the Super Cup quarterfinals. Despite Inter Kashi finishing second in the I-League, their failure to gain promotion amid controversy led the striker to seek a move to the top flight.
East Bengal managed to fend off interest from Kerala Blasters to secure Edmund on a three-year contract. The transfer also marks a return to familiar territory for the Mizoram-born attacker, who made two appearances for East Bengal in the 2019–20 season while on loan from Bengaluru FC. Notably, he had recorded an assist in a closely contested 1–2 defeat against rivals Mohun Bagan during that stint.
Now set to join the national camp as a replacement for Irfan Yadwad starting May 18, Edmund has completed all contractual formalities with East Bengal. He is expected to play a crucial role in the club’s forward line, especially following the departure of Brazilian striker Cleiton Silva. As of now, there is no official update regarding Robson Robinho’s status at the club, with no paperwork filed concerning his future.
Meanwhile, East Bengal has also landed a major coup with the signing of Bipin Singh on a free transfer from Mumbai City FC. The 30-year-old winger brings with him a wealth of experience and silverware, having spent seven successful seasons with the Islanders. During his tenure, Bipin helped Mumbai City clinch two ISL Cups and two League Shields, contributing 26 goals and 18 assists across all competitions.
With these two signings, East Bengal aims to revitalize its attacking options and build a squad capable of competing at the highest level. The club’s supporters will be hopeful that these two players can deliver much-needed success in the coming season.
