East Bengal FC midfielder Madih Talal has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to a knee injury. The Frenchman suffered the injury during the club’s match against Odisha FC on December 12th.
This is a massive blow for Oscar Bruzon’s team as Talal was the crucial bridge between their defense and attack. Talal is known to give consistent performances and the Red and Gold Brigade will certainly have their work cut out in filling his void.
In the ongoing Indian Super League 2024-25, Talal scored one goal and provided one assist in the 10 matches he played for the Kolkata-based club.
“Emami East Bengal FC midfielder Madih Talal unfortunately suffered a knee injury in the recent home match against Odisha FC. After evaluating his medical reports, the club can confirm that he will be ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 ISL season. We wish Madih a speedy recovery and will share updates on future developments,” a club statement said.
Talal had earlier signed a two-year contract with the club and will stay till 2026. East Bengal FC will next face Jamshedpur FC on Saturday.
Meanwhile, East Bengal FC registered a come-from-behind 4-2 win against Punjab FC on Tuesday in the ISL. After losing their last game against Odisha FC, East Bengal FC was under fire after going down 0-2 in the first half against the Shers with Asmir Suljic and Ezequiel Vidal scoring for the visitors.
However, the Red and Gold Brigade made a storming comeback with Hijazi Maher scoring soon after the break. The home team soon equalized in the 54th minute with Vishnu Puthiya Valappil finding the back of the net. Subsequently, an own goal from Suresh Nongmeikapam and a goal from David Lalhlaansanga in the 67th minute, helped East Bengal FC secure all three points.
