Euro 2024: Kane says Germans have ‘soft spot’ for England

England and Germany have been arch-rivals since the World War 2. However, Harry Kane reckons the Germans have a soft spot for England and they will also cheer for the Three Lions in the upcoming Euro.

Kane played for Bayern Munich but failed to lift the trophy as Bayern Leverkusen clinched the Bundes Liga after having an unbelievable season. The England skipper had a great run for Bayern Munich, scoring 44 goals in 45 games across all competitions in the recently concluded season.

There is no doubt that England and hosts Germany are the two favorites for the upcoming European Championship.

“The reception I’ve had since I’ve been at Bayern has been incredible and ever since I’ve been in the [England team] hotel, I’ve had some of the staff come up and say hello.

“I’m not saying they want England to win, but I think they have a little soft spot for us — now I’m here — and that’s fantastic.”

Kane also revealed that Bayern teammate Thomas Müller left a message for him at England’s Weirmarer Land Golf and Spa Resort base in Blankenhain after Germany used the same venue for warm-up matches.

Kane said: “Tommy left me a little note, because they were here just a couple of weeks ago.

“He said the golf course is great but the weather has not been so good! It looks fantastic, the hotel is incredible and to be in Germany is a bit of a home from home.”

England will begin their Euro 2024 Group C campaign match against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday.
