Bengaluru FC head coach Gerard Zaragoza lashed out at his players after their 1-1 draw against Hyderabad FC at the GMC Balayogi Stadium, Hyderabad in the Indian Super League on Saturday.
Zaragoza said the level of his players was horrible, especially in the first half. Murgaokar scored in the 21st minute to put the Nawabs in front. However, Sunil Chhetri continued his good form as he scored in the 78th minute to help his team share a point.
“The level was horrible. My players, in the first half, were not inside the pitch. Yes, we had the ball; we moved them, but they arrived one time, and they scored one goal. Something that, I think, luck is not on our side also because we had clear, clear chances to score, and we did not score,” Zaragoza said in the post-match press conference.
“In the second half, with the changes, we changed a little bit, and we were more vertical, but finally one draw was amazing for them and not good for us,” he continued.
The Spaniard admitted there was a lack of concentration when his team conceded the goal in the opening half.
“I don’t know; I need to analyze this game, but it could be, yes (on whether there is a lack of concentration when Bengaluru FC concede goals).
The gaffer wants his players to rectify their mistakes and make a solid comeback in the upcoming matches.
“As I say, we need to be ready and recover because we have a game in four days, and (we should) recover mentally, and let’s go. It’s like this,” he opined.
“Football and life are like this. We fall down and we stand up again,” Zaragoza concluded.
Bengaluru FC, who have won a solitary match in their last five games, will next take on Odisha FC at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru on Wednesday.
