Bengaluru FC head coach Gerard Zaragoza was delighted with his team’s performance after a 4-2 win against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai in the ongoing Indian Super League on Saturday.
Ryan Williams was able to put the Blues in front as he scored in the 16th minute. However, Irfan Yadwad soon equalized for the Marina Machans after three minutes.
The visitors’ captain Sunil Chhetri continued his rich form, scoring in the 43rd minute but the home team once again equalized quickly as Hmante scored in the stoppage time.
After the first half, Williams scored his second of the evening in the 68th minute whereas Renthlei conceded an own goal.
“I think we controlled the game. I think this was one of our best games away from home,” Zaragoza said during the post-match press conference.
“We have conceded one goal each from a set-piece in the last five games. I was not happy as we were fragile unlike our first few games where we were really tough. We need to change this if we want to fight for something,” he added.
The Spaniard feels they have been attacking more in recent matches, which has created more space in their defense and thus they been conceding more goals.
“We have been training on the same level as before. In the first few games we conceded just one goal through a penalty but then we didn’t score many goals,” he said.
“Now we are scoring many goals and we have a lot of chances. But then we are fragile at the back. I want us to be more compact,” he added.
Zaragoza showered praise on veteran Sunil Chhetri after the striker scored his ninth goal of the season.
