Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed that Kylian Mbappe doesn’t behave like a star. The young Frenchman is regarded as one of the best players in the world and he is known for his agility on the pitch.
Mbappe made his Real Madrid debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta and the striker was able to hit the ground running, scoring his first goal for the club in the 68th minute.
Los Blancos registered a 2-0 win to add another trophy to their glittering cabinet. Meanwhile, Mbappé signed a five-year deal worth €15 million a year after taxes and will also receive a €150m signing on fee, spread over his deal, according to ESPN sources.
“It’s more fun to have Mbappe in your team, than to play against him. I hope he will score many more goals. He is a normal guy, he doesn’t behave like a star,” Courtois said (via EuropeanLad on X).
On the other hand, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti showered praise on Kylian Mbappe for his impressive debut.
“Mbappe has enormous quality. He worked well. He combined, he worked defensively. Like the team, they were not good in the first half. When a game opens up and we have more space, it is easier for us. Vini contributed a lot, everyone. Bellingham, Rodrygo. In the second half we played very well,” Ancelotti said (via ManagingMadrid).
The Italian manager added that Atalanta played well during the first half but they were able to bounce back strongly in the second phase.
“We suffered a bit in the first half, because Atalanta pressed hard and played very well defensively. In the second half the game opened up a bit, they showed signs of fatigue and we had more space. In the first half they won more duels than us and we had more difficulties. With space, Rodrygo, Vinicius and Mbappe are very dangerous,” Ancelotti added.
Real Madrid will begin their La Liga campaign against Mallorca on Sunday.
