Hyderabad FC were left ruing their chances after they lost 1-0 against Chennaiyin FC in their Indian Super League clash. The Nizams were wasteful upfront and that more or less decided their fate as Vladimir Koman’s goal from the spot was enough for the Marina Machans to bag all three points in a very tight contest.
Hyderabad FC head coach Manolo Marquez accepted the fact that his team did play well and created a lot of chances but needs to work more on their finishing. Speaking about the other high scoring clashes this season, Marquez said, “For me, the other games are not that important. I am very disappointed with the score, not with our game. It is true that it was very different from the other games. Most of the time, we had the control of the ball, we created very clear chances. But, if you don’t score, this kind of things happen. The penalty for me was a fair penalty.”
The Nizams dominated possession and created a flurry of chances as Bartholomew Ogbeche had a rough night at the office. The Nigerian forward who is mostly very reliable missed some clear cut chances that led to his team’s defeat. “I think we created enough chances to win the game. The score is not unfair, but if you play football (and not take your chances) these kinds of things happen usually.
“You try to play more than the opponent. I totally respect the style of Cheanniyin FC because I think the coach is a great coach and they had good organization, but I think that our team pressed very good. We had the ball practically for all of the minutes. But, if you don’t score all of your chances, the other team can arrive once or twice to your goal,” the Spaniard further added.
Hyderabad FC received a big blow as they lost Halicharan Narzary to injury within the first few minutes. It was an early blow for the Nizams and Marquez feels that only time will tell whether it is something serious for the experienced Indian winger.
Hyderabad FC will face the reigning champions Mumbai City FC next in the Indian Super League as Marquez and his men will be eager to return to winning ways.
