Hyderabad FC’s Shameel Chembakath highlights key areas of improvement ahead of Chennaiyin FC clash

Hyderabad FC’s assistant coach Shameel Chembakath has admitted that his team needs to improve in certain areas in order to make a comeback in the ongoing Indian Super League. The Nawabs are all set to take on Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai on Wednesday.

Both teams will enter the contest after losing their last three matches and they will look to get back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad FC suffered a 0-2 loss against FC Goa in their last game and Thangboi Singto’s team has managed only two wins in 10 matches of the ongoing season with one draw and seven losses.

Shameel Chembakath said in the pre-match press conference, “Well, we have had a tough run for our last three matches. When the results are disappointing, we are fully aware of the areas where we need to improve. And you all know that football is a game of ups and downs. And yeah, of course, the training is going well. The players are showing their unity. And of course, this will be a challenge. And the players know how important this match is after the three losses.

“Chennai is a great team under a great coach. Owen Coyle is a very experienced coach. But we would say, like you said, the last number of matches against them, we had a positive result. And our focus will be to control the game. And we are sure that we’ll be giving our best. And of course, we are prepared and we are taking this challenge in a positive way. And we will be bouncing back,” he stated.

Chembakath admitted that the team’s offense against the Gaurs was not working and it led to the team’s downfall in the last game.

“See, if you see the last match against FC Goa, we were dominating more on our defensive and midfield third. But of course, the final part, like how we progressed to the final third, that was not working there. Every match we are identifying the aspect of the game where we need to improve. So especially if you say the areas which we need to focus on the defensive organization”

“And the number of goals which we scored are also less. So we need to focus in a way more on the finishing part, the final moments, the final third and creativity. These are the things which we are working on these days. And of course, it’s a big season and the changes will be there for sure. And I think of course if we win the three points from the next match, that will motivate the players. Our main goal is to move upwards in the point table. So now it’s the time to refocus and again to give our best,” he concluded.
