Hyderabad FC consolidated their position at the summit of the Indian Super League as they outplay NorthEast United 5-0 courtesy of a brilliant brace from Bartholomew Ogbeche.
The Nizams are currently in the driver’s seat and are looking like favourites to win the Indian Super League Shield. It was the biggest moment in Ogbeche’s career as he became the all-time leading goalscorer in ISL history. After the game Manolo Marquez revealed that he is lucky to have someone like Ogbeche in his team.
Despite a 5-0 win, the Spaniard was not too happy with his team’s first-half performance as he said, “I think we played one of the worst first half in the competition, but we were very clinical in set-pieces.
“In the second half, the team managed the game very well. Obviously, when the other team attacks, we have good players that can take advantage of the spaces and I think the team was very good in the second half.”
Ogbeche is surely a trailblazer in Indian football who has not experienced a dull season with four different teams. He has already scored 14 goals from 13 games in this campaign and is guiding the Nizams to their first-ever title.
Speaking on the player and his impact, the head coach said, “He scores goals with four different teams in four different seasons.
“He is a great player for our team. We are very happy that Bart plays in our team. At this moment, Coro is not here, but Sunil and Bart will score more goals and let us see how they finish.”
Manolo Marquez highlighted how important it is for the players to be in form considering the season at hand especially with everything around covid-19 and injury concerns. He pointed out how players like Yasir Mohammed and Nim Dorjee Tamang will also have big roles in helping the club achieve greatness.
“We need the maximum players as possible in good shape because it’s a difficult moment in the tournament. We had the intention of playing Yasir (Mohammad), he needs minutes after recovering from injury. I think Nim (Dorjee Tamang) played well. I am very happy with the players who usually play fewer minutes because they are showing in training that they are fighting every day to be in the starting lineup,” Marquez concluded.
