Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is not losing his sleep regarding his managerial role with the club. The Red Devils have got off to a horrid start in the new season of the Premier League as they have managed only two wins in six matches, with one draw and three losses.
Ten Hag’s team suffered an ignominious loss of 3-0 against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday to add salt to injury. Brenan Johnson scored the opening goal in the third minute of the game as the visitors were able to hit the ground running.
Dejan Kulusevski scored right after the first half and then Dominic Solanke was able to put the game to bed as he scored in the 77th minute.
Asked whether he is concerned his United bosses could look to change the manager, Ten Hag said: “I am not thinking about this.
“We made the decision from a clear review [in the summer] what we have to improve and how we want to construct a squad but we knew it will take some time. We need some time. We are all on one page or in one boat together. The ownership, the staff and the players as well. I don’t have that concern.”
Meanwhile, Ten Hag was not impressed with his team’s defense when they conceded a goal against FC Twente in their 1-1 Europa League draw on Wednesday. Similarly, Spurs defender Micky van de Ven made a similar run to break open United’s midfield.
“Yes I am,” he said.
“But it is clear and obvious when you concede a goal like this again, it shouldn’t happen and especially when we address it so loud and clear.”
United will next take on Aston Villa in the Premier League at the Villa Park on 6th October.
“There is always a new game,” he said.
“It will be a new day and it is also obvious you have to learn as a team. It can’t happen twice in four days that a defender can dribble through the whole team. You can’t make such mistakes in football.”
