Jamshedpur FC head coach Aidy Boothroyd was disappointed after losing their previous match against Bengaluru FC by 1-0 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru on Saturday. Boothroyd was not happy because they didn’t get the result they were looking for against the Blues.
Danish Farooq Bhat scored in the fifth minute of the game to put the home team in front. On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC took two shots on target but Boothroyd admitted they were not clinical in front of the goal against the opposition.
“Disappointed because we did not get the result that we wanted. We shot ourselves in the first four minutes and gave ourselves a problem,” he said in the post-match interview to the club’s media team.
“We had some chances but unfortunately, we weren’t clinical in front of goal today,” he added.
Ishan Pandita had two chances in the second half but the youngster was not able to grab them.
The Englishman feels the opposition was fast but they couldn’t throw a spanner in the works. It was not a complete performance from the Red Miners as they couldn’t come up with a collective effort.
“They started fast and we needed to slow them down to stop them and upset them,” stated Boothroyd.
“Their form hasn’t been good and we have been playing well. I was pleased with the last couple of games, but tonight disappointment is the overriding emotion,” he added.
Boothroyd revealed he is looking to use Rafael Crivellaro at full throttle in the upcoming matches.
“Keeping Rafael as fit as we can (is important). (But) we need to do it without any injuries as he hasn’t played in a long time. There was bit of a balance in the team that needed to be done which I did it. I was also pleased with the younger players. I thought Vishal was excellent,” said Boothroyd.
Jamshedpur FC will next take on FC Goa at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on Thursday.
