FC Goa head coach Carlos Pena feels his team will have to be at their best in order to get three points against Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on Thursday. The Gaurs have won six out of the 10 matches whereas they have lost four games and they are currently in sixth place in the standings.
On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC have got off to a horrid start in the ongoing season of the Hero ISL as they have managed a solitary win out of the 10 games they have played. The Red Miners have suffered eight losses and they are struggling at the 10th place in the standings.
Meanwhile, FC Goa had defeated Jamshedpur FC by 3-0 earlier in the season and they will be looking to replicate the same performance.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Carlos Pena said, “Well, I expected a different game in the first leg. There we had a great performance, but with Jamshedpur FC, many things have changed since then. They have changed their foreign players and more or less, it’s going to be a different game.”
The Spaniard added that his team has the utmost respect for Jamshedpur FC and revealed their target will be to take three points from the game.
Pena said, “We have come here to get the three points. We respect Jamshedpur FC a lot. It’s true that they are not in good momentum but they have lost games due to small differences and small details. We respect them, their coach, and their players and we will try to be at our best version to get the three points because it’s a very important game for us.”
Sharing his thoughts on the opposition’s poor start to the season, Pena said, “They have not started the season badly, they won their second game at home but nobody expected them to be in the position that they are in now because they won the League Winners’ Shield. They have retained some players from last season and have signed some new players in this transfer window. It is going to be a tough game for us.”
