FC Goa have signed the services of Goan forward Devendra Murgaonkar for a three year contract, the club announced on Thursday. The 21-year old exciting talent joins FC Goa from Salgaoncar after the clubs agreed on undisclosed transfer fees.
The youngster has impressed one and all with his skills in the Goa Pro League and he would be looking to be at his best in the seventh edition of the league. The rookie will get to share the stage with and against one of the best in the business and he will aim to take his game to new heights with the Gaurs.
Devendra is thrilled to be joining hands with FC Goa and revealed that it is a dream come true to be part of his favourite club. The youngster added that he is looking forward to grabbing the opportunity with both hands.
Speaking to fcgoa.in on his move he said, “This is something like a dream come true for me. I have been an FC Goa fan since the Club’s inception and now I get to wear the colours and get onto the field, taking on the best in India. So, you can say I am living my dream right now.I feel blessed to have this opportunity and I want to take advantage of this with both hands.”
On the other hand, FC Goa Director of Football, Ravi Puskur is happy to welcome Devendra Murgaonkar into the club. Puskur feels the talented player will add value to the squad with his aggressive style of football.
Puskar stated, “Devendra is a player who has consistently performed at the Goa Pro League and has racked up goals, season after season. He’s a clever player who drops to assist in the build-up and also finds himself smart pockets of space. We are confident that he will suit our style of football. We hope that his development will be accelerated by training, being surrounded by players from the first team and by gaining minutes at the ISL level.”
Meanwhile, Devendra Murgaonkar has risen through the ranks in the last couple of seasons. He announced himself at the Goa Pro League in 2017-18 and he was at his best in the next season. The striker scored 20 goals in the 2018-19 to hog all the limelight in the league and made a name for himself.
Furthermore, the 21-year prodigy has also been part of Goa’s Santosh Trophy team in the last two seasons. The ISL 2020-21 season will begin from November 21.
