ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Juan Ferrando has stated that their focus is on future matches and they will not be thinking much about their 3-1 win against NorthEast United. The Mariners were able to bag three crucial points in the 89th match of the Hero Indian Super League which was played at PJN Stadium on Saturday.
V.P. Suhair scored the opening goal for NorthEast United FC as he found the back of the net in the 17th minute. However, ATK Mohun Bagan was quick to bounce back as Joni Kauko scored the equalizer after five minutes.
Liston Colaco scored the second goal for ATK Mohun Bagan in the 45th minute while Manvir Singh scored the third goal in the 52nd minute.
This was the seventh win of the season for ATK Mohun Bagan and they currently occupy the second position in the points table with 26 points under their belt. The Mariners have played 14 matches so far and they will be able to qualify for the semifinal stages if they continue the good show.
Juan Ferrando said in the post-match press conference, “For us, there are still six games to go. So currently my feeling is that I am thinking about the next game. To be honest, the coaching staff and players are ready for the next match. We have enough for the time to recover as the next game is on Tuesday. Our focus is on the future, not thinking about this night now”.
Ferrando added that the conversation with all the players is the same and they had a discussion regarding the tactical points.
Ferrando added, “Nothing, the conversation with all the players is the same. We talked about the tactical points. Because at the end different style different methodology. For me the most important is the players step by step try to understand the concepts about transitions and spaces. It’s not so easy but happy because all the coaching staff and players, want to work with my style and this is the most important”.
The Spaniard also gave updates on Hugo Boumous and Carl McHugh and said that both of them are an integral parts of his team.
Ferrando concluded, “For me, they are very important players Carl, Hugo, Willie, Roy, and the players are important for me. But for me, the most important thing is now to think about the squad. Of course, I am upset if Hugo is not here but we have Joni Kauko. If Carl was here it would be perfect for me because it for me he is like my coach inside the pitch but if Carl is not ready, we have Lenny Rodrigues and Deepak Tangri. And I am happy because sometimes it’s necessary to change some details and plan”.
