ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Juan Ferrando was not happy with his team’s performance despite their crucial win against table-toppers Hyderabad FC by 2-1 at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Tuesday in the 85th match of the Hero Indian Super League.
Ferrando reckons his team has a lot of problems in their defensive transitions and they will need to improve their performance if they are to go all the way in the ongoing season.
Liston Colaco scored the opening goal for the Mariners as he scored in the 56th minute. Subsequently, Manvir Singh doubled ATK Mohun Bagan’s lead after three minutes. Hyderabad was able to get one goal back after Chianese scored in the 67th minute but ATK Mohun Bagan was able to take all three points.
Juan Ferrando said in the post-match press conference, “Of course, I’m not happy because normally in build-up we can use No 6 and No 8. But after the injuries, I had to change the plan and we used Subhashish and Prabir. But of course, we need to improve in these details. So, I am not happy about the transitions in defense. We have a lot of problems in this case”.
In fact, ATK Mohun Bagan has been unbeaten since Juan Ferrando has taken over the coaching reins. Ferrando added that the team’s focus will be now on the next coming games.
The Spaniard added, “Now we prepare for the NorthEast United FC match. This is our focus and it’s important. I hope all the staff, all the players, and our supporters are together as everyone knows about the bio-bubble and how tough it is. We want their support to do best for next Saturday”.
Ferrando feels it is going to be a tough match for his team against NorthEast United as the opposition has good players.
He added, “Against NorthEast United FC, it will be a tough game. In the last match they played well with no pressure. They have good players like Marcelinho, Hernan Santana. In the case of Goa, I know their squad, they have a very good team. So it won’t be so easy. To be honest, it’s not important to look at the table and the positions are not real”.
ATK Mohun Bagan will next face NorthEast United FC at the PJN Stadium, Fatorda on Saturday.
