Bengaluru FC head coach Marco Pezzaiuoli has stated that they have been doing well from the beginning of the season but they haven’t had the rub of the green on their side. The Blues defeated Kerala Blasters by 1-0 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in the 76th match of the ongoing Hero Indian Super League on Sunday.
This was Bengaluru FC’s fifth win of the season as they have climbed to fourth place in the standings. Pezzaiuoli’s team has won played 14 matches thus far out of which they have lost five games while four have ended in a draw. Ergo, they have 20 points under their bag in the points table and are three points away from table-toppers Hyderabad FC, who have played 13 matches.
Marco Pezzaiuoli said in the post-match press conference, “I think we have been doing well from the beginning of the season. We were a bit unlucky but we don’t think about the fourth position now. We think about this win. We enjoy the game, we enjoy the three points and from tomorrow onwards we focus on the next match because it’s coming soon. Just now we had three games in seven days”.
“As for Kerala Blasters FC, I’ll give a big compliment to them as well. They were fighting till the end and it wasn’t easy at all after a 12-day quarantine”.
Roshan Naorem scored the winner for Bengaluru FC in the 56th minute of the game and Pezzaiuoli added that he is taking positive strides every day in the training sessions.
Pezzaiuoli added, “He did well in the second half. He had created a chance in the first half for Prince Ibara. When he dribbled inside the ball, he did well but unfortunately Danish missed the ball. It was a good combination play. He is doing well, he is training but he also needs to be normal. It’s very important as he knows he is not ready for everything yet. He needs to still improve, he is a young guy but is doing well and trying to take more steps upwards”.
In fact, Bengaluru FC had 48% of the possession while they took four shots on target which was fewer than the opposition, who took five shots. However, the Blues were able to bag three crucial points.
He added, “The idea was to win the game. That was clear. When you see the 90 minutes, we had more chances to win the game. But it was an eager match in midfield, with a lot of second balls. But we should have scored the second goal to have more calmness at the end of the match”.
Bengaluru FC will next face Jamshedpur FC at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Saturday.
