Chennaiyin FC forward Vincy Barretto is confident that he is going to score a lot of goals for Marina Machans in the upcoming ninth season of the Hero Indian Super League. Barretto will look to bring his best for the two-time champions and deliver the goods for the team.
Meanwhile, Barretto scored two goals for Kerala Blasters FC in his 17 appearances and scored one of the best goals of the season against eventual champions Hyderabad FC in a league game in ISL 2021-22 season.
Furthermore, the youngster was able to impress one and all with his performances in the maiden season of the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL). He scored three goals in seven matches for the Blasters. Thus, he will look to continue the good form in the Hero ISL while playing for the two-time winners.
The 22-year-old from Goa said while talking to Sportskeeda, “I think I will score a lot of goals and give my best for the team. Last season, I thought to myself that I had to do my best for the team. When we are together, then everything comes together.”
He added: “If I don’t score, I can still help my team – if they pass to me, I’ll score and if I pass to them, they’ll score.”
Barretto added that he will need time to get settled at the club as he is new and he will look to hit the ground running in the upcoming season.
“I need time first because I’m new here but everyone is here and I’m a new face in the team. Everything will be fine as I get more time with the team.”
He added: “We just started training but I think, after the 2-3 months of pre-season is done, everything will be better. I feel the coach is a very good person who supports and treats everyone equally.”
The right-winger will play with players like Anirudh Thapa, and Rafael Crivellaro and it will be a great learning curve for him.
Asked which players he would look up to in the team, Barretto said, “Yeah, Thapa from the national team, a very good, experienced player, and Rafael also. He’s played at a very high level and it’s good for me to learn from them and improve myself as a player.”
