FC Goa’s Muhammed Nemil is hopeful that he will get more chances to work with the first team of the club ahead of the upcoming season of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23. Nemil has made a solid start to the ongoing Durand Cup as he has scored twice for the Gaurs in as many matches.
Nemil scored in the eighth minute against Air Force which helped his team win the contest. However, the defending champions of Durand Cup, FC Goa had lost their opening clash against the previous season’s runners-up Mohammedan Sporting Club by 3-1.
Meanwhile, Nemil had played a key role in taking the Gaurs to glory in the previous edition of the Durand Cup as he had scored four goals and provided two assists.
After having proved his mettle with FC Goa’s reserve team, Nemil is hopeful of getting more chances with the big boys.
“Although I was given just four starts, I’m not disappointed. I trained with several excellent footballers, and the education I got just by doing so is extremely valuable. As a player who is still finding his way around, one has to look for ways and means to improve your own game. I’m thankful to FC Goa for handing me that opportunity,” Nemil said as quoted by the official website of Hero ISL.
“Once my Durand Cup 2022 campaign comes to a close, I’ll hopefully be given more time to work with the first team ahead of the upcoming ISL season.
The youngster is looking forward to working under the tutelage of head coach Carlos Pena and sharing the field with players like Alvaro Vazquez, Iker Guarrotxena, Noah Sadaoui, Edu Bedia, Brandon Fernandes, and Glan Martins.
“I’m excited to work under the new head coach Carlos Pena and his staff, and it would be an immense honor to team up with the likes of Alvaro Vazquez, Iker Guarrotxena, Noah Sadaoui, and of course, Edu Bedia, Brandon Fernandes, Glan Martins, and others,” Muhammed Nemil concluded.
