Mumbai City FC has signed the services of Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera ahead of the ninth season of the Hero Indian Super League, the club announced on Saturday. The Spaniard has signed a one-year contract with the Islanders.
Noguera makes the move from FC Goa and he is one of the most impressive midfielders in the last couple of seasons of the tournament. The Spaniard had won the 2021 Durand Cup with the Gaurs. Noguera had scored four goals and provided 11 assists in the last two seasons of the ISL.
Noguera will look to deliver his best for Mumbai City FC and hit the ground running. The midfielder has good experience under his belt and he will look to make the most of it.
“I feel a sense of pride to be joining Mumbai City. There is ambition and hunger to win at this club and the philosophy here is to play attacking and beautiful football. I have seen it from the outside in my two years in the ISL and now I’m ready to help bring success to the club,” Noguera said after joining the club.
Mumbai City FC head coach Des Buckingham feels Noguera’s experience is going to add value to the club.
“Alberto is an excellent addition to our team and has shown consistently over recent seasons his ability to influence games in a way that will suit our style. He is a very experienced player who will also provide additional leadership to the group while allowing us to develop and adapt the way we want to play. I am delighted to have Alberto with us and I look forward to working with him.”
The Spaniard becomes Mumbai City FC’s second foreign signing after Rostyn Griffiths during the off-season. Meanwhile, the Islanders had failed to qualify for the semifinal in the previous season and they will look to turn the tables.
On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC has appointed Stuart Watkiss as the new assistant head coach ahead of the new season.
“I look forward to working with Aidy and the rest of the staff. And I also look forward to soaking in the unique atmosphere at the furnace,” Watkiss said in a message on Jamshedpur FC’s Twitter handle.
