NorthEast United FC has roped in the services of midfielder Jithin MS ahead of the ninth edition of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23, the club announced on the social media handles on Thursday. Jithin MS had played for Gokulam Kerala FC and had played a key role in taking the Malabarians’ to two I-League titles in 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
The 24-year old is known for his aggressive play in the mid-field and he will be looking to give his best in order to deliver the goods for the club.
Jithin MS netted four goals and provided two assists in the I-League 2021-22 season. The winger was also awarded the Best Midfielder of the I-League in the previous edition.
Furthermore, Jithin had found the back of the net for Gokulam Kerala FC in the team’s debut AFC Champions League campaign against ATK Mohun Bagan, which the team won by 4-2.
Meanwhile, NorthEast United FC had a disappointing previous season in the tournament as they could only manage three wins in 20 league stage matches.
They finished at 10th place after only bagging 14 points and the club will be determined to turn the tables in the ninth edition of the Hero ISL. Thus, the Highlanders will be determined to turn the tables in the upcoming season of the tournament.
Jithin MS will look to hit the ground running for NorthEast United FC and play a key role in the midfield for the team.
Meanwhile, NorthEast United FC had earlier named Marco Balbul as the team’s new head coach for the upcoming season. Balbul will take over the baton from Khalid Jamil, who had left at the end of the previous season of the Hero ISL.
“I’m excited to be part of the NorthEast United FC family. I can’t wait for the season to begin and I will see you all in Guwahati very soon,” Balbul said after being appointed in his new role.
