Odisha FC has completed the signing of experienced goalkeeper Amrinder Singh ahead of the ninth season of the Hero Indian Super League, the club announced on their social media handles on Friday. Singh played for the Pune FC youth team and then got a chance to play for the senior team after his impressive performances.
He then joined ATK FC in 2015 in the Hero ISL and then played for Bengaluru FC in I-league. Subsequently, he played for Mumbai City FC in Hero ISL 2016. Singh was at his best for the Islanders as he kept five clean sheets in six matches and won the Golden Globe award for his fine show.
Singh made a total of 59 saves in the following season, which was the most for any goalkeeper as he lifted his performance to a new level.
Singh played an instrumental role in taking Mumbai City FC to League Winners Shield and the ISL trophy as he kept 10 clean sheets in 23 matches for the Islanders. Thus, Singh has all the experience under his belt and he is going to add value to the team.
“I am very pleased to have signed up for Odisha FC. After deliberating over various options, I feel the project Odisha FC as a club has envisioned is the one that matches my ambition and commitment. The club has built a young and enterprising team, and under a coach like Josep Gombau, I am sure we can achieve the goals set for the season. Odisha FC as a club and the state of Odisha is ready to take the next step in Indian football, and I am privileged to be given a chance to play my part in this,” said Singh on signing for Odisha FC.
“Amrinder is a very good goalkeeper and we were looking for someone like him after Kamaljit joined East Bengal. He is a leader and will improve our team,” said Gombau on his latest acquisition.
Odisha FC will kick off their Hero Indian Super League 2022-23 campaign against Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on 11th October.
