Chennaiyin FC has roped in the services of Mobashir Rahman on loan from East Bengal FC. The midfielder will stay with the Marina Machans until the end of the 2024-25 season. The 25-year-old becomes the first player to join the Marina Machans during this winter transfer window.
Meanwhile, Rahman joined East Bengal FC in the previous season and played a total of 13 matches for the Kolkata-based club. However, his game time was limited in the ongoing season and thus he played only one match. Rahman will be hopeful of getting more matches at Chennaiyin FC.
Furthermore, Rahman has played under the tutelage of Owen Coyle and thus his experience will be valuable to the team.
Speaking on the occasion, Owen Coyle said, “Rahman is a wonderful talent and has proven himself at the top stage for Jamshedpur FC and East Bengal FC. I have worked with him previously during my time at Jamshedpur FC and know his quality on the field. He is a valuable addition to our midfield and we are excited to work with him for the remainder of the season.”
Reflecting on his signing, Rahman said, “I am excited to join two-time ISL champions Chennaiyin FC and looking forward to working under the guidance of head coach Owen Coyle once again, who has helped me to improve my game in the past as well. I hope to give my best for the team, working hard day in and day out to help the club achieve its goal for the season ahead and make our fans happy.”
Chennaiyin FC have won three matches out of the 12 games they have played in the ongoing season and they have 12 points in the standings.
