Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil admitted the opposition was better than them after they suffered a 0-2 loss against NorthEast United at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur in the ongoing Indian Super League on Thursday.
Alaaeddine Ajaraie scored in the sixth minute of the game to continue his rich form. The Morrocan striker scored his 20th goal of the season in the 81st minute as he played a key role in his team’s three points.
Jamshedpur FC had 53.6% possession and took three shots on target whereas the visitors took six shots on target.
“Yes, we have lost; it is our home ground; we must get at least a point, but they played better,” Jamil said in the post-match press conference.
The gaffer showered praise on Ajaraie, who scored a brace for the opponents.
“They have a quality player, (Alaaeddine) Ajaraie; he did the damage for us,” the Jamshedpur FC head coach remarked.
Jamshedpur FC will next face Mohammedan Sporting Club in an away fixture on February 20 and Jamil wants his team to pull up their socks against the Kolkata-based club.
“Yes, we must recover and think about the next game,” Jamil opined.
Meanwhile, this was the second consecutive loss for the Red Miners and they would look to get back to winning ways against Mohammedan SC.
Jamil’s team is currently in third place in the ISL standings with 11 wins in 20 matches. Jamshedpur FC have suffered eight losses and have managed a solitary draw in the ongoing season. Thus, they are on the right path to make it to the playoff stages in the tournament.
