ISL: Chennaiyin FC sign Monotosh Chakladar; Sandeep Singh extends Kerala Blasters FC contract

Chennaiyin FC has signed the services of Bengal skipper and defender Monotosh Chakladar on a multi-year deal whereas Sandeep Singh has extended his contract with Kerala Blasters FC.

This is Chakladar’s first contract in the Hero Indian Super League and Marina Machans’ third signing before the next season. The 24-year-old youngster had recently led Bengal in Santosh Trophy’s 75th edition and played a key role in the team’s runners-up finish.

Vita Dani, Chennaiyin FC’s co-owner welcomed Chakladar into the squad and heaped praise for his leadership qualities.

“We are really happy to welcome Monotosh Chakladar to the Chennaiyin family. All of us at the club are aware of his leadership qualities and performances at the Santosh Trophy and we are excited to have him bring those qualities to the fold. I am certain he will fit in seamlessly into the team, and raise the overall level,” Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani said.

The youngster is also delighted to join hands with Chennaiyin FC.

“I’m very excited to play in the ISL for the first time and that too for two times champions, Chennaiyin FC. My only motive now is to work hard, get into the first team and win titles with this team” an elated Chakladar expressed.

On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC announced the departures of defenders Deepak Devrani and Davinder Singh.

Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters FC, who finished as runners-up in the previous season of the Hero ISL, have extended their defender’s Sandeep Singh contract till 2025. Singh has played a total of 28 matches for the Tuskers in the last two seasons of the tournament. The 27-year-old made his ISL debut in the 2020 edition against Bengaluru FC.

Kerala Blasters FC has already extended contracts of players such as Bijoy Varghese, Jeakson Singh, Marko Lešković, Prabhsukhan Gill, and Karanjit Singh.
